A drink so amazing that there is a massive amount of research that has been done on it! The studies prove it’s role in the prevention of cancer, heart disease, stroke damage, inflammation, overactive bladder, aiding memory and learning, and even Alzheimer’s disease!

If all those health benefits don’t make you extremely interested in what it is you could be drinking to give you those kinds of benefits, then you can’t be very interested in your health! And I’ll share a little secret with you…… It’s guaranteed that if you don’t care about your health and just ignore it, it WILL go away!! Just keep drinking all those anti-health drinks loaded with sugar, artificial sweeteners, and caffeine and you’ll speed up the departure!!

So what’s this wonderful health-promoting miracle?? GREEN TEA!! The plant chemicals that it contains called flavonoids are what give it so many health benefits. Population studies have shown that in countries where green tea is a popular beverage (unfortunately, the good ole USofA isn’t one of them!), men who drink more green tea have a much lower incidence of prostate cancer than those who drink less. And for women, large “case-controlled” studies in China have shown that daily consumption of green tea reduced the risk of breast cancer by 41%, and ovarian cancer by 61%! Another study in Sweden followed 61,057 women ages 40 to 76 for 15.1 yrs. Those who drank at least 2 cups of green tea per day reduced their risk of ovarian cancer by 46%, and with each additional cup per day, further reduced risk by 18%!

Green tea may even be beneficial to those who already have cancer. It’s been shown to increase the effectiveness of some cancer drugs without causing further harm to healthy cells. In one study of 254 women with ovarian cancer, daily consumption of green tea increased the 3 yr. survival by 62%!

Another major benefit to women is green tea’s ability to rid the body of estrone (detrimental used estrogen). In a study of the hormone levels of 130 post-menopausal Chinese women, green tea drinkers were found to have 13% lower estrone levels than those who drank no tea at all. The estrone levels of black tea drinkers (the kind of tea most popular in the U.S.) were 19% HIGHER than non-tea drinkers!

The studies proving the many benefits of green tea go on and on. Another one compared green tea consumption with the risk of cognitive decline in people over age 70. Graded on standard tests of cognitive function, the risk of mental decline was 54% less for those drinking 2 or more cups of green tea per day. Black tea lowered risk by a smaller amount, and coffee did not lower the risk.

How about green tea and weight loss?? Clinical studies have verified that EGCG ( one of the main catechins, and catechins are the special flavonoids in green tea), helps in weight loss. In one recent double-blind , placebo controlled study, 240 people were given green tea catechins including EGCG or a placebo for 12 weeks. They didn’t change their diet or exercise habits. Compared to the start, and also compared to the placebo group, the EGCG group had reductions in weight, body fat, waist size, LDL cholesterol, and blood pressure. The studies typically used at least 250 mg. of EGCG per day.

Being a consumer health advocate for over 26 years now, I recommend and personally use two high quality Shaklee products that contain an effective amount of EGCG - the Cinch Energy Tea, and the 3in1 Boost. Both products promote all the health benefits described above, as well as being extremely beneficial for weight loss with the added benefits of cutting cravings, stabilizing blood sugar, boosting metabolism (3in1), and giving an energy boost, and mood lift
    (tea).

So next time you reach for that drink, do your health a BIG favor - ignore the coffee, soda, and sugary fruit drinks, and make it Cinch Energy Tea instead!! And if you want extra help with weight loss, include the 3in1 Boost as well!
